Looking for Happy V

Life happens. Sometimes it will require you to give and give until you are empty. Fighting depression when you are empty is not an

easy task. Refilling yourself allows you to reconnect with others, and can help alleviate depression.

Think of a pitcher of water. The pitcher represents your body. The water represents your spirit. In a healthy relationship, you pour your spirits gently back and forth with your loved one, nurturing each other with acts of kindness, tolerance, and love.

Developing a hobby can also lift your spirit. A good hobby will make

you get up and move, concentrate your thoughts on something positive, and help you set aside the serious things in life for just a little while. I like gardening. Digging in the dirt. Taking something tiny, a little seed, burying it under dark rich soil and have it return to you as a small green shoot, sprouting toward the sky, giving hope of something beautiful to come. That's how I think of gardening. It feeds my soul. It doesn't take a lot of money to create a small garden. The physical exertion is refreshing and can help you sleep better at night.

This weekend I went to Co-Lin Feed and Seed in Brookhaven, Mississippi. I enjoy shopping locally at family owned businesses. When you walk in their store you are greeted with smiling faces and they are eager to help. I found several varieties of flowers to plant on my screened porch, where I like to sit and write. Next week I'll try to add a few tilled rows to start my vegetable garden. As I fight depression every day, like a lot of people, I try to balance out the day with work, activities, and with relaxation time as well. I am beginning to feel calmer and more content.

May you never lose hope and may peace find you wherever you go.

Jackie
